Having managed 51 of last years 52Frames I feel I need to maintain that momentum. I think I completed more drawing, painting etc than I have done since leaving college.
So, I started this blog in January and never got to post it. I need to update it and put it online!
A friend of mine, Patty (https://pattycallaghan.com) and I have just put up a new exhibition at Tegg’s Nose in Macclesfield. It was supposed to be at least one, maybe two, years ago and we set our subject, Paper Birds. The idea was each of us to produce some birds, hers 3D and mine 2D. We thought we would link them to Tunnicliffe. He was an artist local to us and last year saw Macclesfield run a series of events about him. He wrote a book about the Mere’s in the area and we decided to use Redesmere as our inspiration. It is a favourite destination for both of us and most of my images use my own photo reference from there.
For reasons I cannot explain I decided I wanted to do paper cuts of birds, and then hit on the idea of doing them in marbled paper. The reference drawings were done by the end of the first week in January. That only left 6 birds to prepare paper for, cut out and decide how to display by 16th Feb. No sweat!
The exhibition went up on the 16th and I will post some images of it next week. For now here are some of work in progress.
