52Frames Nature Week 14

The challenge for 52frames this week (https://52frames.com/albums/2022/week-14-nature/challenge) is nature. This is a very wide brief. I would normally do a bird or maybe a reptile or insect.  One of the options suggested is landscape. This is something I rarely tackle so I thought I would give it a go. The reference photo is from Iceland and was taken by my nephew Richard.

I love the drama of this image and think it may have been better at a larger scale. I did a pale blue wash in watercolour and then used Quink ink for the darks. I had a posterised photo as well as the original to help me with the tonal variations. I found this useful.

I am pleased with the final but find the black area left front a bit dominant. If I was doing this again I would alter that.
