More birds

Sep 3, 2016 | Birds, Drawing, Nature | 0 comments

Am getting better at both taking my small sketchbook out and actually using it. More birds, this time in Norfolk on a windy day, in a bird hide. The geese were quite a long way away but the sleeping ones have turned out well.

The Canada Goose was the frst one I did, and the drawings got better as they went along. This is generally true and I now try and keep going because I realise I may well get something I like in the fullness of time.

The birds do move around, which is clearly part of the reason the sleeping ones are easier and better, although even those birds adjust themselves frequently. I try and remember what they look like but also refer to others so some may be composite. I sometimes leave a part finished sketch and come back to it when the bird is in a similar position.
