Before Lockdown – Spanners

Mar 22, 2021 | Curiosities, Drawing, Illustration, Inspiration, Print | 0 comments

It seems a lifetime ago but, before lockdown, a friend and I were working on a joint project about our dads. I had started thinking about making some books to display, each one related to a different apect of my memory of him and my first thought had been his garage and tools. Even now when I go in there the smell is really evocative.

I was interested in how the tools were displayed and shapes and sizes, and had started experimenting with print and drawing. I need to get back to it as I had started enoying it. The print spanners were made with cut out cardboard shapes, and I think the randomness of the print really adds to them.
