52Frames Chaos Week 44

Nov 6, 2022 | 52Frames, colour, Illustration, Lighting, oil pastel | 0 comments

Chaos is the challenge this week for 52Frames. I took some quite nice photos of fallen leaves; autumn chaos. Then, I was sitting in last night and there were fireworks everywhere. It seemed a shame to miss such an opportunity!

This seemed an ideal opportunity to try out oil pastel and ink with scratching back to create my image. I have never been very successful in getting this to work so thought I should have another go. I have however used photo reference from the internet as inspiration.

My learning experience is that I did not put quite enough pastel on and that some of the colour was a bit pale, partly because I used quite a bit of white. However bits of it really work. I scraped back with kitchen knife, craft knife, and etching tool. As I have said often think the quality of the paper is also acting against me. In the circumstances I think it is quite effective.
