Ann Robertson – Artist and Illustrator

At last after a long absence a new post! Had a bad few months so decided to sign up for my friends night class.

We have been doing some experimentation with cubism which I really enjoyed.

Three drawings of objects from slightly different angles in different media:

I like the differences and similarities in these and the process of doing several felt less precious and gave a bit more freedom for the work.

These were then cut up and reassembled. I looked at some things online and decided to go diagonals. It was difficult to make 3 interesting images so tried for the best and the second best:

Then I took the best bits and put them into a new image, which I decided to do with watercolours. This was a mix of ordinary and Dr Martin’s liquid watercolours. This gave a lovely bright colour and I think the final image has a quite mediteranean feel. I think it would be fun to print off more of the images and cut them in different ways. It would be a great project to have for winter or days when I dont know what to do.
