Patty Callaghan and I produced this display for the window of the 3 mobile shop to coincide with this years (2016) Barnaby Festival in Macclesfield.

The banners are composites of images floated over a map of migration pathways. Each swallow images were produced with Dr Martin’s liquid watercolours and pen and ink. I designed the map in several stages, the final stage involving image transfer, which helped to render a slightly indistinct appearance.

The 3D swallows are papier mache, created by Patty and suspended in front of the banners.

Below is some sketchbook work thinking about identifying features of swallows.
