Cyclical was a joint exhibition with Patty Callaghan at Tegg’s Nose Country Park in Macclesfield.
I created tunnel books inspired by the cycles of the seasons. Patty’s work concentrated on the lunar cycle over a 12 month period.
My tunnel books are created in layers to give a feeling of depth. The paper is cut and the colours used are Dr Martin’s watercolours. I really enjoy these liquid watercolours. They result in a very clean image with bold colours. All have the same outer dimensions and use the same type of paper, except the cherry blossom which is cut from japanese paper. Japanese papers are very strong but light and give a translucency to the flowers.
Patty made each Moon individually and each represents a day of the year from the September equinox 2018. They were then mounted, in months longitudinally, onto a hanging. I find the hanging fascinating and the more you look at it the more interesting it becomes.
