52Frames An Activity Week 11

The challenge set for 52Frames this week is An Activity.  I had a couple of choices for reference, but love this picture I took in Procida, Italy. The little boys were sitting in the sun fishing. We were quite a long way above them. The photo has been cropped right down. I have also lost the fourth boy, who I felt didn’t add anything to the image.

It is worked in acrylic paint, which I haven’t used in decades. However this month there was an article in my art magazine where an artist described how she painted in thin layers of acrylic. Not sure how the paper would hold up to this I remembered I had some gesso. Hey presto… paper transformed!! Much to my surprise I enjoyed working with the paint and the ease with which it can be altered.

I am pleased with the finished painting. It feels really happy, which I like, and the colours are quite strong for me, but not heavy.
